Will these work on mice as well as rats?
The full-size rat traps are built for rat-sized weight and a mouse may cross one without firing it. If the droppings are small and pointed at both ends, use the mouse traps instead. Our identification guide walks through the difference.

Are they safe to use around pets and children?
There is no poison involved, so nothing toxic enters the house. The traps still snap with real force, so place them behind appliances, inside cupboards, along walls and anywhere a child or pet cannot reach.

Do they need batteries or electricity?
No. They are mechanical snap traps. Nothing to charge, nothing to plug in, nothing to replace except the bait.

Can I reuse a trap after a catch?
Yes. Open the jaw over a bin, rinse the trap if you want to, and reset it. There is no need to sterilise it, and a trap that has already caught something is often the most productive one you own.

Nothing has been caught after three nights. Is it faulty?
Usually not. Rats avoid unfamiliar objects on a route they know, and a few quiet nights is normal. Leave the traps in place, check the bait amount, and read the placement guide before moving anything.

How do I dispose of a catch without touching it?
Hold the trap over a bin and open the jaw. The catch drops straight in. Wash your hands afterwards regardless.
